Dolina Olczyska
A 45-minute walk down the green trail for 2 km from Jaszczurówka. The altitude difference here is about 150 m. The glade is a great spot for sunbathing! A parking lot can be found at the bottom of the valley. Walking from the apartment in Bory to Jaszczurówka takes about 10 minutes.
The trail starts next to the old swimming pool by the thermal water spring. Back in the old days, spotted salamanders used to live here. The highlanders called them "jaszczur" (saurian). Later the Jaszczurówka neighbourhood was named after the small reptiles. The entrance can be found through a small “gate” of rocks. On the right (western) side of the valley there are dolomite rocks. Because of their shape, local people call them Baba (a woman) and Pióro (a feather).
A wide road goes by the stream and leads to the vast Polana Olczyska gale. During the spring it blooms wonderfully with crocuses. A few highlanders’ huts act as a reminder of the sheep flocks which used to graze around the whole area. In the south-east end of the glade you can find Wywierzysko Olczyskie, the spring of the Olczyski stream. Studies have shown that the spring water travels 3 km underground from the Panszczyca Valley.
